ABOUT ME

 

Born and raised in Dundee, New-Brunswick, Karen studied Ballet, Jazz and Tap at the tender age of 7. She began participating in various artistic programs including stage performances in dance and theatre.

Her Belly Dancing career began in 1998 with Shams (Denise Paradis) In 2000, dedicated and passionate about sharing the art of Belly Dance, in Quebec City, and with the support of her intructor Karen started her own Belly Dance Academy.

 

In her spare time, Karen also did self-improvement style and discovery workshops.

In 2004 she hosted her first workshop featuring Egypt's Ambassador of Rhythm and the world's leading name in Egyptian dance music HOSSAM RAMZY & SERENA.

 

2007 Karen re-located to Fort McMurray and successfully re-established her Academy with studio on location at Harris Crescent. Her numerous students are taught Egyptian/Lebanese/Turkish Cabaret, Oriental Gypsy, Turkish Rom, Bollywood, Balkan and Tribal and the use of different accessories.

 

 

Since 2011, Karen has been an active member of the Alberta Culture Network and Alberta Culture Days action team, both city mandated groups

 

Karen is now  a MEMBER of the CID-INTERNATIONAL DANCE COUNCIL, for her body of work and can now offer certification to her students for their studies in Middle Eastern and North African style of dances

 

CID is a non-governmental organization founded in 1973 within the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where it is based.

Its members are the most prominent federations, associations, schools, companies and individuals in 155 countries.
